I am 64 years old and likely older than most of the people reading this. I spent a long time searching for love, feeling like something was wrong with me because I couldn’t find it. I kept falling for the wrong men, some of whom were physically and emotionally abusive. When I loved them, they didn’t love me back, and when they loved me, I didn’t love them. In hindsight, I realize I exuded desperation.

I was so focused on finding love that I overlooked red flags and projected qualities onto men who weren’t really there. I didn’t get married until I was 33 and stayed in a bad marriage for 17 years. I’ve been divorced for almost 14 years. It wasn’t until I was 63 that I found the man I had been searching for my entire life, and he asked me to marry him last Christmas.

Looking back, I wish I had relaxed and enjoyed my 20s instead of desperately searching for love and marriage. I didn’t learn from my failed marriage and spent over 10 years avoiding relationships, only to fall into the same desperate pattern again, feeling even more afraid and believing it was too late for me to find love.

Then I stumbled upon this blog, and the wisdom of James Bauer has been a lifesaver for me. I finally learned to approach things differently, relax, and trust in a higher power. And guess what? Love found me!

I know this is a long message, and most people may not read all of it, but I hope those who do will take away this one message: be patient and let go of desperation.
